CHINESE LACQUER IVORY AND SILK FAN

A beautiful 19th century Chinese fan. When opened it is approximately 25" wide and 14 1/2" tall. The sticks are lacquered wood with a scene on both sides painted in gold. The leaf has different scenes on each side. One side features a central medallion of numerous people with ivory faces and silk clothing. On each side of the central painting are two floral pictures. The reverse side is beautlfully painted with bamboo, flowers, birds and butterflies on a blue ground. The fan, given its age and delicateness, is in good condition, but I should note the following problems: The reverse side shows several tears in the paper. Also the creases in the paper show expected signs of wear. I have taken these condition issues into account in pricing the fan.
