Wood utility carrier with original paint and a graceful scalloped edge. It is difficult to say for certain what was its intended use. It is deeper than most knife boxes yet too graceful and not showing the expected wear of a tool box. In either case, it has many potential uses in the 21st century. It would serve well to hold plants or magazines, for instance.
Measures 15" across; 11 1/2" deep and 9" tall to the top of the handle. Very good, all original condition. Made circa 1870.
