| This Variable Stars with Applique is one of the gentlest, most subtle quilts I have seen. The Stars are color arranged to form a pattern of concentric squares. Appliqued vines and flowers in the border echo the center medallion design. Hearts in the center are repeated in each of the four corners. The center is signed HAS and dated 1846 in minuscule cross stitch. It is in excellent, unwashed condition; measures 85" x 92". The maker's warm feelings are clearly reflected in this unusual quilt. I am not one to gush but this quilt calls for it. | |||||||||||
