|This is an extraordinarily fine roll up sewing case known as a huswif. It is far more elaborately pieced than most. In addition, it has written the initials "CW (and something I cannot make out) For Get Me Not" written in the tiniest cross stitch imaginable. The red wool flap for storage of needles is decoratively embroidered. All of the edges are bound in silk that has some fragility. The pieced diamonds are both wool and cotton. Fully opened, the piece measures 19" long. It is 4" wide. It was found in Vermont; made circa 1830.|
