| This graceful floral applique quilt is finely appliqued and quilted with a variety of unusual patterns. The scalloped edge is a nice continuation of the curved pieces of the applique. It is in excellent, un-used condition. The Eleanor Beard provenance makes it even more special. Beard began a cottage industry in Hardinsburg,Kentucky in 1921. She employed as many as 1000 women who made quilts both at home and in her studio. The business has gone through several owners since its inception, but continues to produce fine quilts and linens. This quilt, done in cotton sateens, was made in the 1920's or 30's. The background is a rich ivory color. Measurements are 74" x 81". | ||||||
