This awesome combination of patterns is one I've never seen before. The Six Point Stars are filled with Log Cabin blocks that have a different appearance when each is seen as one of the points of the stars. The purple ground blocks form hexagons around the stars or, when looked at vertically, they form a zigzag. The multiple patterns just don't quit in this amazing quilt. It is made of fine wools with well placed diamonds of black velvet. It is machine quilted in a contrasting color thread which adds additional patterning. The quilt is in excellent condition with the exception of several darned spots in one corner. They are so unobtrusive that they do not show up on the thumbnail photos. Measurements are 75" x 82": Kentucky origin. Made in the 1880's; backing is cotton. The ground color is a much more royal purple than appears on my monitor.
