Hawaiian Applique Quilt: Circa 1940
Hawaiian applique quilts are made with a central design format as seen in this fine example. Echo quilting outlines the appliqued patterning. The wonderful color of this applique quilt conveys the warmth of the Hawaiian sun. It is golden but not the neon tone that may appear on some monitors. This quilt was made by Addie Bissell Durham during the time from 1937- 1940 when she lived in Hawaii. It is in excellent, unwashed condition with one small spot near an edge. Measurements are 84" x 104".
