This geometric quilt pattern comes closest to Texas Puzzle but with one exception. The white strips on this quilt end in small triangles. This unique variation makes for hourglass patterns with each of the abutting blocks. The printed fabric used for the off blocks was a great choice as it echoes the pieced block pattern. The quilt is signed in large stenciled letters Amos M. Shenk who was probably the person for whom it was made. The border has deeply undulating feather quilting and flowers within the body of the quilt. There is a heart in each corner.
It is in excellent, unwashed condition. Measurements are 89" x 96". Lancaster County, Pennsylvania origin; circa 1870.
