This North Star quilt pattern also goes by the name of Star of the East. Regardless of which direction you prefer, it is a wonderfully three dimensional pattern. This example has an unusual, playful border of hexagons along the blue band. The solid blue arms of the stars alternate with printed fabrics of the 1930's, some of which appear to be feedsacks. The backing is the same yellow printed fabric as the centers of the stars. The quilt is in excellent condition; nicely quilted with a waffle pattern. Measurements are 72" x 76". Hagerstown, Maryland origin; circa 1930.
