This splashy applique quilt appears to be an original pattern. It is simultaneously airy and bold. It is very well quilted and appliqued. Four types of flowers are seen in each block giving this quilt something of a folky quality while it is also quite fine.
Diagonal lines are quilted throughout the background and double diagonals in the white spaces between the blocks. All stitches are small and even. The quilt has been professionally laundered and is in pristine condition.
Lancaster County, Pennsylvania origin; circa 1860. Measurements are 92" x 94".
