This unusual Sampler Crib Quilt virtually screams of its Pennsylvania origin. It was made by Lizzie Kelp Buch of Akron in Lancaster County. She made it for her daughter, Bertha K. Shirk in the late 19th century.
Each of the nine blocks is a different appliqued pattern. It is in excellent, unwashed condition. There is a smudge on the outer border but no other condition apologies.The colors are "punchier" than appear on my monitor.
Measurements are 42" square. Because it is square, one might hang it on point to make an even more dramatic hanging.
