| The Diamond in the Square is the iconic pattern of the Lancaster County Amish. This quilt, which did originate in Lancaster, is most likely Amish, or certainly strongly influenced by them. The color palette, though, is atypical for the Amish who usually worked in deeper tones. It is well quilted with patterns frequently seen in Amish quilts, particularly the star surrounded by a circular wreath in the center. Lovely colors that have softened with washing. Cotton; measures 80" square. Very good condition ( the slightest fraying along some of the edge on the back). Circa 1930. | |||||||||
