It's difficult to find a name for this dynamic geometric quilt because it forms so many patterns. The basic block is much like a Basket pattern. The adjoining red blocks form a Bow Tie or Hourglass. Each square divided into a red and green triangle surrounded by a peach sawtooth is another way to look at the primary pattern. In sum, it's a fabulous, original piece with a lots of movement. The unlikely combination of these solid colors adds to the drama of the piece. The triangle border is the perfect frame for this unique quilt. Mint condition. Measures 65" x 81" to ends of triangles. Pennsylvania origin; circa 1920.
