Variable Stars Quilt with Bow Ties; Circa 1880; Pa.

Fabulous rendition of a Variable Stars quilt that is much more complex than it appears initially. The Hourglass (or Bow Tie) grid is made of blocks that are actually the same as the arms of the stars. The intersections of the grid also form Variable Stars that are the opposite colors of the primary stars. A very lively, unusual combination of patterns. Excellent condition. Measures 70" x 76"; Pennsylvania origin. Circa 1880.
