|Fibrous-branched Conferva (Conferva fibrata) #2139 from the work "English Botany..." by James Sowerby, a periodical published between 1790 and 1814 with fine hand-colored engravings that cover every possible subject from the lowliest mold spore to the finest flower specimens of the day. The plates measure 11.375" x 8.75". This plate is from vol. 30, published in 1810 and includes text page. The Title Page reads: "English botany; or, coloured figures of British Plants, with their essential characters, synonyms, and places of growth; to which will be added occasional remarks. by James Edward Smith, M.D. F.R.S., member of the IMP. ACAD. Nature Curiousorum, the Academies of Stockholm, Upsal, Turin, Lisbon, Lund, Berlin, Philadelphia, and the NAT. Hist. Societies of Paris and Moscow; President of the Linnaean Society. The Figures by James Sowerby, F.L.S.". Condition: Very good, clean, tiny spot TR corner, binding edge. (see Enlargements).|
