Dutch Elm (ulmus major) #2542 from the work "English Botany..." by James Sowerby, a periodical published
between 1790 and 1814 with fine hand-colored engravings that cover every possible subject from the
lowliest mold spore to the finest flower specimens of the day. The plates measure 11.375" x 8.75". This
plate is from vol. 35, published in 1831 and includes text page. The Title Page reads: "English botany;
or, coloured figures of British Plants, with their essential characters, synonyms, and places of growth;
to which will be added occasional remarks. by James Edward Smith, M.D. F.R.S., member of the IMP. ACAD.
