Description:
Egyptian Vulture from the work "A History of British Birds" by Francis Orpen Morris, published between
1851 and 1857, with editions continuing to 1897. These are Colored wood engravings. This plate is from
one of the earlier editions. The plates measure 10.00" x 6.63". The Title Page reads: "A History of
British Birds". By The Rev. F.O.Morris. B.A., Member of the Ashmolean Society. London: Groombridge and
Sons. 5, Paternoster Row.
Condition: Good; stain near adult's tail feathers (see enlargement 6), small tear and crinkle at upper left edge (see enlargement 3), dog ear at upper right corner (see enlargement 4). Includes a copy of the title page from a different edition. |
