Offered is wonderful, late 19th century, pharmacy, tool of the trade that is in near perfect, and perhaps, unused condition. It is of a hardwood construction skillfully crafted on a lathe. It retains most of its original shellac finish and measures 3.25 inches in diameter x 3/4 inches thick. There are two polishing / rounding surfaces to this tool, each for pills of a different depth. This instrument was used in the latter phase of pill making. The partially formed pills were placed upon a flat dusted board and the pharmacist would move the roller over the board in a figure eight motion to facilitate forming rounded pills. Perfect for your pharmacy collection! |
