This is a rare opportunity to purchase a cased set of ivory handled OPTHALMIC SURGERY INSTRUMENTS once owned by Sir Robert Cruise (English, died 1946) who was the surgeon oculist to Queen Mary. The fitted case has a leatherette covering and blue velvet like interior which houses four ivory handled surgical instruments. Three are marked “WEISS LONDON” and one is marked “WEISS”. The case has a paper label marked “2 large Keratomes etc…”. The case measures 6.5" long X 2" wide X 1.25" high and is labeled “John Weiss & Sons, 287 Oxford St. London and dates to the early 1900s. Very fine original condition with the expected patina to the handles and ready for your collection. |
