Offered are four, EXTREMELY RARE, unopened, 8 ounce tins of Circa 1900, theatrical make up manufactured by The M. Stein Cosmetic Company of New York City-- the preeminent maker during this time period of theatrical face powder used by stage actors off and on Broadway! These tins display absolutely wonderfully as they feature a fabulously detailed ART NOUVEAU styled blue and cream colored lithograph on the cover! The side labels are quite interesting as well as they detail the 16 different face colors produced by M. Stein which include such unique color names as "Indian", "Moving Picture", Sallow Old Age", Chinese", and "Juvenile Flesh" to name a few! The tins are priced separately at $48.00 each. Please see photos which well represent condition. All of the tins have superficial scratches and rusting that is not inappropriate to such pieces as they are over 100 years old!! None of the rust permeates the tin, so integrity of structure remains. Please note that the tin that retains the brightest cover litho also has the greatest degree of rust to its base. Each tin measures 4.25 inches in diameter and is nearly 2 inches in height. |
