Measuring 17 inches in diameter x 4 7/8 inches high x 3/4ths inch thick, this formidable wooden treenware bowl dates to the 19th century and comes from a multi-generational, Ledyard, Connecticut estate. The bowl retains its original finish with warm and rich patina typical of a piece of this vintage. Fine condition with no cracks, chips or gouges. This circa 1850s piece is representative of the common type of serving and table ware used by those who could not afford the luxury of expensive pewter or ceramic pieces. Treenware was made at home, and thus, was practical, durable and highly affordable in nature! Interior Design Decorator's take notice: This piece would make a phenomenal table top display in an elegant country home! |
