Born in Les Cayes on September 14,1924. He moved to Port-Au-Prince in 1942 where he enlisted in the air force. Three years later, he joined the "Centre d'art" where he worked with other great masters under Dewitt Peters. In 1955 he had a one-man show at the Centre d'Art. In 1968 he was part of the exhibition “Art of Haiti and Jamaica” at The Americas Society Art Gallery, New York City, NY.
L'Ouverture Poisson is one of the 54 Haitian artists included in the World Encyclopedia of Naive Art, by Chartwell Books, Inc., 1984. He has been shown and published extensively and his work is included in major collections worldwide. Louverture Poisson died in 1984.
