Howden Minster, East Riding, Yorkshire

Oil on canvas, signed and dated: “1828”.

Painting size: 19” x 28”
Frame size: 27” x 36”

A resident of Hull, Widdas was best known as a portrait painter. He also painted sporting scenes, particularly coaching. He was also partial to depicting various Yorkshire ruins and architecture as background to his sporting scenes. Several inn and coaching signs have been documented as his work.
