Rene Vose is an alias for Adairene Vose Congdon. She is also sometimes identified by her married name, Mrs. Thomas Congdon.

Active in New York and Paris in the early 20th century, Congdon studied at the Art Students League, then in Europe. She exhibited at a number of major American museums during her lifetime including the Art Institute of Chicago and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and she is represented in the permanent collections of the Library of Congress as well as the Petit Palais, Paris.

In this thoughtful image, a young girl idles while carrying some flowers. As if rehearsing a step in a ballet of her own imagining, she raises a foot, eyes cast down, lost in her thoughts.

Adairene Vose Congdon is listed in Who Was Who in American Art (Falk, 1999) and Dictionary of Women Artists (Petteys, 1999).
