Alexander Jamieson (British, 1873-1937)) Boddington Hill, Wendover Mixed Media on linen, signed lower right and dated : "1921".

Painting Size: 20.5” x 31.5” A respected landscape and portrait painter, Jamieson was educated at the Haldane Academy of Glasgow before winning a scholarship to Paris in 1898. His time in Paris had a strong influence on his work as he adopted the broad impressionist manner gaining in popularity at the time. He was elected a member of the International Society of Painters, Sculptors and Gravers in 1904 and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters in 1927 He traveled to Spain in 1911 and held his first solo exhibition at the Carfax Gallery in London in 1912. He was sent to France to serve in WWI from 1914-1918. He married fellow artist, Biddy MacDonald, and eventually settled in Buckinghamshire.
