Purdy received his education from The University of Connecticut and Boston University. He has held memberships in the American Federation of Artists, Allied Artists of America and Silvermine Guild Artists. He has also exhibited widely from the Audubon Artists and Schoneberg Gallery, NYC to the Allied Artists of America. His work was recognized by a gold medal from the Allied Artists of America and the Jane Peterson Award from the Audubon Artists. His work is held in the permanent collections of the New Britain Museum, Colby College and Chrysler Museum.
