Liebmann was a photo-realist painter born in 1928 in Downey, California, and who died October 1, 1989 in Washington DC . This is per the book "Gerhardt Liebmann A Renaissance Man," text by Yona Zeldis McDonough, published 1996 by Patrick Cramer Publisher, 13, rue de Chantepoulet, 1201 Geneva. The book includes a biography, a number of photos, and a list of exhibits. There is also an article and photographs in "American Heritage," June 1966 Vol XVII, Number 4 "The Shape of Things Practically Here, A fable for City Planners" Painted by Gerhardt Liebmann, Text by Oliver Jensen. It also appears that there may be some of his work is in the California State Library at Sacramento. In the late 1980‘s he had a house in Bolinas, California, but he was primarily a resident of New York, Soho. He is listed in Benezit, Dictionnaire des Peintres.
