Rare Anglo-Indian carved and pierced ivory casket of rectangular form with pierced geometric designs on top and all sides. The base has a projecting moulding above a pierced and shaped apron and four elephant-form feet. (small loss on rear panel) Delhi, circa 1880, probably Faquir Chand. For similar examples in the Victoria and Albert Museum see “Furniture from British India and Ceylon” by Amin Jaffer, numbers 100, 102.
