Born in New York City in 1904, Harold Lund studied at the Art Student’s League before establishing a studio in Brooklyn. He also painted in Provincetown, Massachusetts and taught at the Vesper George School in Boston. Lund is known for his landscapes and marine paintings as well as figurative work. The rough brushwork and warm tones in this small farm scene evoke the stillness and heat of a summer afternoon. Lund exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.
