Luce, or Lucie, Tullat studied at the l’école nationale des Beaux-Arts de Paris from 1919 to 1925. Known for her landscapes, she exhibited regularly at Paris’ Salon d’Automne and Salon des Tuileries.
In this intimate seascape, Impressionist brushwork creates an atmospheric merging of sea and sky. Meanwhile, the contrasting solid forms of the gondolas in the foreground and the buildings in the background anchor the composition.
Luce Tullat is featured in the collections of Paris’ Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville and is listed in the Dictionnaire des Peintres, Sculpteurs, Dessinateurs et Graveurs (Bénézit, 1999).
