Born into a family of Neopolitan artists, Girosi studied painting with Giuseppe Casciaro, Paolo Vertri, and Stanislaw Lipinski. He was part of a period of artistic renewal in his native Naples and the whole of Italy. His most important works are those that depict natural subjects in landscapes with fantastic and mythical qualities. Girosi exhibted extensively throughout his long life, most notably at the Biennale di Venezia.
