An unusual pair of carved stone lions with remnants of original bright polychrome finish from a nineteenth century Jain temple. The lions have wonderfully idiosyncratic expressions and the loss of much of the brightly colored paint (in my humble opinion) softens their appearance and adds to their considerable charm. Approximately 18" high by 22" long by 8" wide. One of the crossed paws is lost; condition commensurate with age and usage as architectural elements.
