Large cast iron garden urn with double handles marked L Dean Utica NY. The basic form of this urn goes back to a Janes Beebe catalogue of the 1850's. Larger versions with the same handles were sold in the 1890's as "Grecian Vase with handles" ( J L Mott catalogue/ Barbara Israel p.154 fig.3.19). This slightly smaller version is ca 1880. 50.5" high, 39" wide, bowl diameter 30".

Rare pair of cast iron garden urns most likely JW Fiske. These have the floral and leaf design basin with elaborate griffin handles and stand on a base in the form of a tree stump with decorative branches. Each is 41" high and 34" wide. These have been cleaned and restored; one stump base has had a missing panel (one of the four) recast from the original.

Large cast iron self watering garden urn on impressive plinth marked Kramer Bros. Dayton O, late nineteenth century. Elaborately scrolled oversized ears and classic nineteenth century plinth with decorative panel make this an impressive sculptoral focus for your garden. Old paint surface; no apparent flaws. Pair of large garden urns from the J L Mott Foundry NY ca 1870 in the Morning Glory pattern. The Smithsonian owns several of a variant on these it has used in the Edith Haupt Garden on the Mall. Bowl sides have highly decorative fluting ending in a protruding bottom faced with morning glory blooms, the decorative stems extending beneath. Each is 34" high, bowl diameter is 29"; base is 15" square. Stripped, rust-proofed and re-painted. In very good condition.

Cast iron tables are rare, with an original iron top, rarer still. Listed in the J L Mott catalogue of 1889, and the Westervelt catalogue as the "double Coalbrook table" (Barbara Israel p. 187), this table base was sold with a choice of tops, the metal top (judging by the number surviving) being unusual. A very unusual and attractive garden urn in cast iron with "Egyptian revival" elements ca 1880. Basin is broad with lip decoration of alternating lotus and acanthus leaves, and is encircled by a garland of grape bunches and leaves. The column is fluted as is the base which has formalised lotus leaves in each corner. Urn is 26" wide, 23" high, 12.5" square at base. Stripped, rust-proofed and repainted; in excellent condition.

Rare set of cast iron garden urns on double plinths by the Kramer Bros. foundry. In the "Grecian" series, these "Athens Senior" urns were only manufactured for a short time, ca 1910, and are seldom seen. Clean and classic lines - ideal for interior or exterior use. Each is marked "Mfg by the Kramer Bros. FDY Co Dayton O". Each is 45" high overall, 40.5" wide, basin is 30.5" in diameter, base plinth is 9", second plinth is 21", urn is 15". Rustproofed and painted in matte black oil.

This is a very functional and hardy set of garden furniture consisting of 2 late nineteenth century wrought iron strap side chairs of the "Adams foundry" design (though these are not marked they are from the same period); one bench in the same style from the early 1900's, and a well-matched vintage occasional table with a strap top. A rare set of four rare urns. Four early tassa style urns on Grecian pedestals with fantastical "cornucopia" ears - horns overflowing with fruit in an ornately interwoven design. The bowls have egg and dart rims and scalloped undersides. The urns - all one piece - sit on classic early Grecian plinths; the whole beautifully proportioned. Probably ca 1860. From a Baltimore estate. Identical urns, though without the Grecian base, are pictured in Barbara Israel p 152 fig 3.10...

Unusual lead garden urn with cap ca 1720. Cylindrical center section carries a frieze and is topped with a heavy extended rim. The opening is covered with a fluted cap which covers the hole but not the entire rim. Underside is a scalloped design returning to a fluted tapered column and square base. 40" high; rim is 22" across; lid is 16" in diameter; the base is 14" square. Stylistically early 1700's, possibly earlier. Wonderful centuries old patina...
