Set of four finely colored chromolithographs of mushroom by EM Fries in custom frames ca 1860. Fries was the scientist responsible for the scientific categorisation of fungi and these prints are from his "Edible and Poisonous Fungi of Sweden." A nice set of six botanical etchings completed and hand-colored by German botanist Johann Simoin Kerner in 1786. The pale and subtle coloring of these pieces is typical of his work. Bold and erotic lithographs on "Arabian Nights" themes by German fantasy artist Otto Linnekogel ca 1920. There are 10 black and white lithographs in the series. Plates 1 and 6 have been cut down from the original sheets and framed at some point - some discoloration of paper from sunlight. All others are on original full sheets (approx 18" x 22") and in very good condition. Image size approx. 13" x 15". All in conservation quality matting.
