Framed Dutch landscape engravings from Daniel Stoopendaal's La Triomphante Riviere de Vecht.." depicting home and garden vistas from early eighteenth century Holland. Published in Amsterdam in 1719 this was an important early landscape design volume. The prints have been hand colored in France and framed using conservation materials. Each is 15" wide by 13.75" high. In excellent condition. Sold separately.

These are very fine early engravings from Francis Willughby's and John Rays "Ornithology" published in London in 1678. It was the first book published in the English language on the subject of birds and one of the earliest to take advantage of the new art of copper plate engraving. Each piece is 8.5" x 13". Antique bird prints in original hand-color from Johann Leonard (1666-1743) Frisch's "Vorstellung der Vogel Deutschlandes..." published in 1733. This is possibly the earliest publication on domestic birds in Europe. Frames are vinegar painted and framing materials are conservation quality. Each is approx.21" x 26" framed; all are in excellent condition except for the goose print, which has a significant repair (e-mail to discuss).

Etchings of classical statues executed by Frenchman Francois Perrier while working in Rome, published in 1638. Perrier was also known as "Le Bourgignon", hence the combination of the letters FLB as the signature that appears on his etchings. Aquatint engravings of medieval history scenes from Charles Hamilton Smith's "Ancient Costume of Great Britain and Ireland" London 1814. These are by master engravers Robert Havell (Audubon) and John Hill and have the fine delicate coloring typical of the best aquatints - a form of engraving so expensive to produce that it flourished for only a short time in the early nineteenth century in subscription volumes such as this one. Each is in excellent condition with no major blemishes...
