These are very fine early engravings from Francis Willughby's and John Rays "Ornithology" published in London in 1678. It was the first book published in the English language on the subject of birds and one of the earliest to take advantage of the new art of copper plate engraving. Each piece is 8.5" x 13". Printed on rag paper and beautifully hand colored ca 1980. In fine condition. Priced separately. Please see my blog.

Framed hand-colored engravings on rag paper from Colen Campbell's "Vetruvius Britannicus" (1715-1725) the great eighteenth century volume on architectural design. Each is approx. 25" x 20" framed; only conservation materials used. Coloring is later, and each print is in excellent condition.

Antique bird prints in original hand-color from Johann Leonard (1666-1743) Frisch's "Vorstellung der Vogel Deutschlandes..." published in 1733. This is possibly the earliest publication on domestic birds in Europe. Frames are vinegar painted and framing materials are conservation quality. Each is approx.21" x 26" framed; all are in excellent condition except for the goose print, which has a significant repair (e-mail to discuss).

Etchings of classical statues executed by Frenchman Francois Perrier while working in Rome, published in 1638. Perrier was also known as "Le Bourgignon", hence the combination of the letters FLB as the signature that appears on his etchings. Framed in silver with conservation materials each piece is 16.25" x 21.75". Prints are in very good condition.
