This terracotta figure of a cymbal player is modelled on the seventeenth century original in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence. It is a figure seen in many garden settings since the 1700's. This is an American version in terracotta ca 1930; an identical one is pictured in Barbara Israel's book (p 142, fig. 2.19). There have been some repairs to this piece, but they have been done well for the most part. The figure is 55" high, 26" wide, 24" deep; the base is 17.5" square.

Pair of cast iron bloodhounds modelled after the originals by Jacquemart ca 1980. In a faux bronze finish 37" and 35" high; bases are approximately 34" x 16". In excellent condition.

A pair of hand carved marble garden urns in the "tassa" style. Carved leaf detail at the rim, fluted egg and dart carved bowl with fluted and stepped base. A few minor cracks and chips, otherwise fine. Each urn is 25" high and 33" in diameter.

A cast iron garden bench in the laurel pattern, American ca 1920. 30" high by 42" wide by 29" deep. Many layers of old paint have been removed and the bench has been zinc coated to prevent rust and finished in a flat black enamel. In excellent condition.

Pair of cast iron garden chairs in the laurel pattern, American ca 1920. Each 28" high 27" wide by 22" deep. Multiple layers of old paint have been removed and the chairs have been zinc-coated to prevent future rust and powder coated in a flat black enamel. In excellent condition.

Cast stone fountain featuring a delighted boy hugging a goose water spout, set in a scalloped bowl of nice proportions supported by circling dolphins and a base of faces joined by decorative wreaths. Child has classic 20's features. Is in 4 pieces. Nicely weathered stone, especially on bowl and figure. Overall height 57", base diameter 36", basin diameter 36".

Charming bronze/copper fountain of a squatting boy contemplating a frog. He sits on a bronze base with 3 fish heads spouting water. Marked "Jim Davidson" it is in fact produced in Thailand by a company that specializes in garden decor featuring children and does so without being mawkish or cloyingly sentimental. 30" high by 27" wide by 13" deep. In very good condition.

Pair of sturdy cast iron urns with upsweeping arms and lids. Urn body has classical motifs - blowing face encircled by dolphins. Lids have roundels on their surrounds with heads with olive wreaths reminiscent of ancient coins. Each stands 48" high and 29" wide. Origins unknown. In excellent condition. Highly decorative for indoors or out.

Elegant garden set consisting of 4 chairs and matching occasional table. Chairs incorporate a fleur de lis or feather motif at crest of back which features floral garlands incorporating lion head motifs over a background of latticed twigs; arms are scrolled acanthus leaves and C scrolls provide the seat supports. Table and chairs have pierced metal tops. These are cast of very heavy aluminum (some alloy involved?) but have a graceful, light appearance...

A pair of stacked garden plinths of cast stone with nice wear - probably ca 1920. Pair of cast stone urns on top - ca 1950. Plinths are in three sections with a height of 30". Urns are 18" high by 24" wide. Overall height of 48". In good condition.

Very nice pair of cast stone finials with floral swags adorning the sides; scalloped design on underside, and caps topped with floral bouquet ca 1920. Nicely weathered finish with elements of old moss and faint traces of original pink stucco finish. Each is 40" high, 14" in diameter at the widest point and 9" square at base. In fine condition.

Identical in detail and size to its nineteenth century forbears this casting (ca 1920) in aluminum is a lot lighter to move. Stripped, primed and repainted in high gloss oil. Bench is 57" long, 33" high, 17" seat height, 13.5" seat depth.
