| Very rare piece from the Portland Stoneware Company in Maine, ca 1880. The company manufactured glazed stoneware garden fixtures, alongside its more arcane products, designed to thrive in the severe New England climate. Most unusual are the cobalt glazed figures that provide the decorative frieze reminiscent of other British forms of "the Portland Vase". Marked "Portland Stoneware Co #354". In three pieces, overall size 44" high by 27" in diameter at top. A few chips, otherwise very good condition. | ||||||||||||||
