| Aquatint engravings of medieval history scenes from Charles Hamilton Smith's "Ancient Costume of Great Britain and Ireland" London 1814. These are by master engravers Robert Havell (Audubon) and John Hill and have the fine delicate coloring typical of the best aquatints - a form of engraving so expensive to produce that it flourished for only a short time in the early nineteenth century in subscription volumes such as this one. Each is in excellent condition with no major blemishes. Plate size is 10" x 13"; sheet size is 13" x 16". | |||||||||||||
