This antique bracelet is very old and is from Rajasthan, dated probably at least 1900 or maybe older This is one of the most unusual bracelets ever! The heavy silver front is a series of tiny interlocking slices that fit together to look like fish scales or louvers. It obviously required a tremendous concentration and hours of work to make this unique piece of art. The louvers are attached at either end with a decorative solid piece of silver decorated with a fan-shape and circles. The bracelet attaches with a tightly wound black yarn on each side and a silver button and loop. The inside circumference is 9-1/2” and outside measures 10”. It is 1-3/4” at the widest point. It weighs a substantial 110.2 grams and is in perfect condition.

If you crave tribal arts, you will love this necklace made from many old and ancient beads. The Amazonite beads are hundreds of years old from Afghanistan and the Ethiopian Cross and brass round and flanged beads are also very old from Africa. The brass ones especially have a character and charm in their imperfect but good design and stand out as something that might have been around for more than 100 years. There is no way to tell exactly how old some of these beads are, but most are easily 100 years old, and the Amazonite are even older. The necklace also has tiny dark spacers that are used in stringing trade bead necklaces. The only things that are not very old are the small orange glass beads and the unusual leaf-design clasp. The necklace is 30" long and the cross adds another 3". This extraordinary necklace was designed by Linda Summers.

Working with old elements, Linda Summers has assembled a lovely necklace with an Afghan lapis pendant in the center. The beads all have many different origins and characteristics: faceted carnelian, Prosser Blue Trade Beads, Roman glass, silver Bali, and Chinese balls make up the “old” necklace. This is an unusual piece of jewelry with extraordinary Egyptian tiny metal wire “bows” chain at the end of the necklace, with a sterling loop and toggle fastener. The lapis on the vintage pendant is surrounded by metal that is probably coin silver. The necklace is 22" long. Owning such an eclectic piece as this will bring a lot of pleasure and comments.

This old piece is lavishly carved with a stylized dragon on both sides of the pendant. It is set off with a gorgeous brilliant turquoise cabochon, bezel set and heavily carved on the silver back. The piece is quite old, probably from the 1950's or '60's and shows that it has been worn because of the smoothness of the edges on the back of the pendant. It is quite a unique piece and I added a fancy chain because it just seemed to fit the character of the piece. The chain is 24" long and is marked, "sterling" and I believe it is from Italy, The pendant measures a little over 2" diameter with another 1-1/4" for the bail. It is a lovely piece.

This necklace is an eclectic combination of an African solid brass Naga Disc and a necklace from the 1950’s. The necklace is stunningly designed of long shaped tortoise beads interspersed with flat brass beads, small black beads, and solid brass tubular beads. Although the two pieces were not made together, they are a perfect marriage of sophisticated and primitive design and are an exquisite combination. The beaded necklace measure about 30” long and the Naga pendant is about 2-1/4” in diameter. The tortoise beads are Lucite plastic I believe. If you like classic and Avant garde, this is for you.

This strand is a beautifully aged and is a exemplary example of African pipestone beads. They also have several types of old silver hollow beads that intersect at several places to make this necklace exquisite. It is at least 1960 or before. The center silver bead is about 5/8” in diameter and all the others are varied in size. The strand is 24” long with a hook and eye clasp, and has stretched a little from age, but can be tightened at the clasp. This is a treasure for someone who appreciates old ethnic artwork.

This exquisite sterling silver bracelet is a spectacular work of art made by a tribal artisan from Rajasthan, India. It is finely detailed with seven rows of two different patterns of silver rope. Each of the strands is perfectly and meticulously crafted, and joined at five junctures with decorated silver wire. The fastener is actually the highlight of the bracelet with solid silver end caps decorated with chevrons. The clasp is a pin and tube that closes quite securely. It is made of 925 sterling and is so-marked, with another mark of “S”, probably for the artist. It is is 8-1/2” long X 3/8” wide with the clasp measuring little over 1” wide, and weighs 63.7 grams. This bracelet is incredibly fashionable and has a feel of warmth on the arm. It is one of those pieces that you could wear every day as you would an identification bracelet. It could easily be worn by a man or a woman.

This old silver pendant is highly decorative and intriguing. Made by hand by tribal artists in this country in western Asia. This piece was originally made to go with several matching beads, strung as a bridal necklace. The starshot design is one of three prominent patterns used by Yemen Jewish silversmiths in the early 1900s. These artisans were were always conscientious about preserving wealth of his bridal customer because she would depend on her cache of silver should her husband be unable to provide for her. The surface is adorned with silver wire and raised designs and displays a rich grey and black patina with the raised silver design peeking through. This pendant also has a maker’s mark next to the ring that holds the small dangling balls. The cartouche is pressed into molten silver. The chain is 21” long and the large bead is about 1-1/2” in diameter. This is a treasure for someone who appreciates very old tribal arts.

This vintage Kazakh silver Asyk Heart pendant is representative of those that are given to the Turkoman women as dowry gifts and worn as a symbol of marriage and fertility. The surface of this pendant is adorned with perfectly formed spirals and tiny circles made of silver wire. The edge also was wire that was flattened to create a texture. In the center is a bezel-set agate and there is still some gilt showing on the surface. This is a very fine historical piece in good vintage condition. The pendant measures 2-5/8” tall X 1-3/4” wide at the widest point. Like other nomadic tribes of Central Asia, the Kazakh’s were of Turco-Mongolian heritage. Their nomadic travels brought them to Iran, China, Tibet, Afghanistan, Mongolia, Iraq, and elsewhere. There are Kazakhs living in Turkmenistan and Turkmen in Tajikistan, and there is often a mingled influence of cultures in jewelry design and function.

This necklace is very primitive in style as it was made by tribal peoples many years ago. I don't know the age precisely, but it must be about 40 yrs. old., maybe older. It is about 24" long with silver beads interspersed between the pipestone. It is something that looks well with other beads and chains to have a layered effect. It is in good condition and the clasp is a simple hook and eye.

This interesting necklace was crafted by someone from a Kuchi nomadic tribe in the Middle Eastern area of the Shomali Plain in Afghanistan. The name Kuchi is translated from the Persian work for camper. The Kuchi have continued to remain a migratory tribe. These bejeweled and brightly colored robed people are known for their very lavish and ornate jewelry and embroidery work which require many hours to create. The necklace is a little over 20” long with the decorative lapis and beads occupying about 4-5”. The dangles hang down about two inches and there are 9 bezel-set lapis lazuli with tiny wire rope at the base. The rest of the necklace is silver beads, most likely coin silver with a simple hook and eye clasp. This is a beautiful, unusual and striking necklace.
