Taxco Treasures Jewelry + Artifacts
|These vintage Taxco Mexican sterling silver earrings are very old, probably 1930’s-‘40’s because of the lack of the Eagle assay mark. The design is very simple and clean like much of the sculpture of the time period. The design is graceful and deeply incised with a dark patina. They are marked, "STERLING 925 TAXCO" with the maker's mark "EGC". This artist is documented in Billie Hougart’s, “The Little Book of Mexican Silver Trade and Hallmarks”. The backs are marked "ALPACA" and are not sterling like the main part of the earrings. They are approximately 5/8" wide and 7/8" long and are screw backs. They weigh 10 grams. These were fabricated by hand by cutting and shaping from silver sheet, and then soldering the screw backs. These are in excellent condition and do not appear to have any damage. They are an exquisite design.|
