| Being offered is a beautifully framed Giclee on canvas painting by world renowned wildlife and nature artist Stephen Lyman. This offering is numbered “82/MMIV” and is number 82 of 250 released in 2004. It is signed by his widow Andrea Lyman. The canvas is 15” by 40” and is displayed in a custom frame of mahogany with gold-tone accent. There is a brass nameplate on the bottom of the frame that reads “Thunderbolt Stephen Lyman”. “Stephen Lyman’s vision for ‘Thunderbolt’ was to allow the viewer to witness lightning’s beauty and power closer than anyone would ever dare in real life. In this magnificent image, the tree acts as a lightning rod. As the current travels through the tree’s tissue, moisture instantly turns to steam and the result is an impressive explosion. ‘Lightning is terrifically challenging to paint,’ Stephen said. ‘I’ve seen this phenomenon from a distance while backpacking, but to actually capture it took a lot of research and imagination.’” Stephen was killed in a tragic accident in Yosemite National Park in 1996. | ||
