| Being offered is a beautiful American Brilliant Period three-legged fern bowl circa 1900. It is 8 ¼” in diameter across the widest point with a 6 ¾” opening. It is 7 ½” tall with legs that are 5 ½” apart. It is cut into a very high quality blank with precision and the motifs cover the entire outside of the bowl. The major motifs are a flashed star and a notched prism flair. There are also fans, strawberry diamond and vessicas cut in a cane with alternating stars and strawberry diamond cuts. The bottom of the bowl is cut in a large star with parallel deep miter cuts. The bowl is in very fine condition but two of the legs have been damaged over the years (see enlargements). One leg has a chip out of the rear and a second leg has the rear potion with a sliver that removed the back portion of the leg. This bowl still sits perfectly flat on the legs and the damage is not noticeable due to the striking nature of the bowl itself. It should be noted that many of the finest museum pieces have actually been glued together in order to preserve the piece. This is a very high quality bowl cut very precisely on a crystal blank that rings beautifully when barely tapped by a fingernail. | ||
