| Here is a very old music box that is still operable and very much a real find for a collector. The top of the box has a round inset with a young man and young woman depicted. The box is 3 ½” tall with the lid on and with the lid off a small trip wire on the rim of the bottom turns the music on and off. The wind-up mechanism is on the 5” diameter bottom along with a Patent Number that was issued in 1934 to the person who patented the method for cutting the concentric circles into the lid and storage portion of the bottom. Around the outside middle of the bottom is a band of raised flowers stamped into the metal body. The three metal legs are still in place and functional. With the lid off there is a concave place in the top of the box to store small trinkets or jewelry. Also, there are spots in the inside of the lid and in the storage space on the bottom which have some stains on the metal. I believe they could be removed but as a collectible they are about par for the metal used during this time and add to its value as a collecible. | ||
