Watercolor on paper, approx. 26" x 20" signed lower left. Bio from askart.com: Carroll M. Bill (1877-1967) Carroll Bill was born In Philadelphia PA and lived most of his life in the Boston area. He worked primarily in watercolors, traveling and painting extensively in Europe and also earned a living as an author and illustrator of articles for national magazines. His wife, Sally Cross Bill, a student of Joseph DeCamp and Ross Turner at the Museum of Fine Arts School in Boston, also a well known artist, worked together with Carroll on murals, most notably in the St. James church in New Bedford MA, Logan Airport in Boston and on 3 steamships of the Bethlehem Ship Company. He studied at Harvard University and was a member of the Guild of Boston Artists, the Copley Society, the American Watercolor Society and a past president of the Boston Society of Watercolor Painters. He exhibited at the Boston Art Club, 1900; the Art Institute of Chicago, 1913, 1924-1930, 1936; the New York Watercolor Club, 1928 (prize); Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts, 1930; Baltimore Watercolor Club; the American Watercolor Society; Butler Art Institute; Boston Society of Watercolor Painters and the Guild of Boston Artists. His work is represented in collections at the Hispanic Society of New York; John Herron Art Institute; the University of Michigan; Museum of Fine Arts; the Farnsworth Museum and M.I.T.
