'Ema' (lit. "Picture-horse") as wooden wishing plaque offered to Shinto shrine by the worshipper, based on an ancient Japanese tradition of that 'kami' (spirits or gods) riding on horses are believed to descend on human realm.
Three-colored four horses which are painted by impressive touch, as it's like expressing the human emotion. Meiji period, 19th century. The condition is as seen, with slight gap between the left frame and picture.
