BOSAN-TANUKI

Shigaraki pottery ware raccoon dog in robes of a Buddhist priest, called 'Bosan-tanuki' (lit. 'Priest-raccoon dog'), made by Rian The first (Fujiwara Tetsuzo, 1876-1966) who is the leading potter as the originator of the motif of Shigaraki raccoon dog okimono. Taisho period, early 20th century.
Small type, but attractive with such presence (power), in fine antique condition, with expected discoloring and slight hairline crackle as seen.
