Japanese cloisonne in the manner of Tsukamoto Jimbei
$ 625

A fine pair of vases decorated in the gin-bari technique with bamboo on a silver background. Meiji (1868-1912), each 8.9 cms high. Very unusually both the original wooden boxes and the display stands are present. Excellent condition

A pair of vases with very similar decoration, by Tsukamoto Jimbei, was included in the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition (the St. Louis World's Fair) and is illustrated in Yamashita's catalog of that exhibition and in Coben & Ferster 'Japanese Cloisonne', figure 75.

Provenance: Gorringe's, Sussex, England.

All items sold are guaranteed genuine and as described and a full refund will be made should any description ever prove incorrect.
