Exceptional hand coloring on this brilliant copper engraving by Pierre-Quentin Chedel, a noted French engraver of architecture, landscape and views. I believe it is from Prevost's , Histoire Generale des Voyages, a most influential travel book in mid 1700. Titled Nouveau Mexico, it is of a bird's eye view of Mexico City, after the Spanish Conquest, showing the results of Spanish drainage and waterworks projects...

Each print, about the rules of the game has a pun to the rule. The original coloring in these 2 prints is very good. Signed FT Sewell 1904, this pair of Cornish Indians with hand painted colors is wonderful! They seem to have been from a poultry or bird book,with some description on the reverse side. Exotic poultry is always quite desirable, and this pair shows handsomely in their vintage frames with hanging rings on top. The mats appear to be amatuer. I just discovered some fun information about these rare birds but want to make sure it's true!
