Antique French Boudoir Pillow, Lace and Linen, Handmade

Wonderful small pillow sham, is completely made with hand stitching, needle lace, embroidery and what appears to be highly collectible Bedfordshire lace. The lace has the significant design with tiny picots in the bridges of the continuous bobbin lace, however I'm still researching always. This 19th c. petite pillow is completely made by hand...every stitch! It encompasses some of the finest hand work in one piece. Heavily padded French Bourdon embroidery is also outlined on side of the larger plumes. The corner drawnwork areas have finely needle worked design, most edged in buttonhole stitching! The lace appears to be Bedfordshire plaited lace, a rare lace where the ground is filled with square ended tallies with picots. There is one break in the lace shown near bottom right in 4th photo. You can also see this in the large center diamond . The linen is very fine light weight, probably hand loomed. In such wonderful condition, with tiny little stains shown in 3rd and 6th photos. It fastens on the back with 6 tiny mother of pearl buttons. It is completely assembled with hand stitched seams. Measures 18" X 12" with additional 2"of lace all around. The embroidery is deeply padded bourdon stitch embroidery, as well as drawn work and needle lace work. It measures 18" X 12" and additional 2" lace all around. It fastens on the back with 6 teeny Mother of pearl buttons. Incredible condition for it's age. There is one broken bride, seen in 4th photo and very small faint stains seen in close up 5th photo. sturdy. This is truly a wonderful piece for collectors, or what a wonderful ring bearers pillow, then for your boudoir, and THEN for your baby's pillow, who will hopefully enjoy it in their wedding, and on, and on! . I will be updating this, as I make more discoveries. Thank you for visiting!
